I don't want to wake up lonely, I don't want to just be fine.

But ever since I left my mother it's much harder to know
how to make my own life here,
how to make my own home.

Vancouver in autumn. Those times are behind me now.
Don't get me wrong: Van is a fantastic city, but I couldn't be happy there for more than a couple weeks at a time. I started feeling out of place... I am not the kind of person that could be happy in the city. At least not for ever.
So many things have happened in my life in an immensely short period of time. Yes, I'm still in Whistler, which I can finally call my home now. I've got an apartment in a perfect location and have an incredibly lovable flatmate,I am working for a luxury hotel and have access to so many benefits/discounts, and I have secured a season pass for the ski area (and thus saved about 2000 CA$), as I will be working as a volunteer for the mountain. And (most of the time) I feel like I belong here! Meeting new people is unbelievably easy around here. Here I've got my friends, here I'm not alone. But something is missing somehow... Maybe that is just because I'm longing to see one particular person or maybe it is because there's still no snow in the village (as opposed to the mountains). However, the most likely reason is that my job is pushing me beyond my limits and taking away all my energy. I barely see the sun anymore! Honestly, I am more than grateful for having all these opportunities, but a small part of me simply wants to be at home and is wondering whether I will be able to be fully happy here. Is all of this really right for me? Have I made the right decisions?
And again and again: Will all my efforts be worth it in the end?

Now tell me: How can I sleep when I know you're nine hours ahead of me?

If only I was home. But wait, there's a reason for me to stick around here a little longer.
